Mahalo to everyone who participated in Whale Tales, this year or over the past 20 years.

We returned for our 20th year in February 2026, the Maui Whale Tales event is our largest annual community outreach and fundraising event that has grown into one of the most beloved marine science gatherings, uniting whale researchers and enthusiasts from around the world. For two decades, we’ve aimed to educate, inspire, and connect people with the latest discoveries in whale research and ocean conservation and have reached tens of thousands of individuals both locally and globally.

Whale Tales offered presentations by leading scientists and visual storytellers, a Mauka to Makai Science Expo featuring local organizations and hands-on activities, a Community Art Expo highlighting the talent of Maui’s artists and businesses, and Benefit Whale Watches hosted by our presenters! Guests also enjoyed special events from film screenings to sponsor receptions.

We are so very grateful to each person who has had a hand in making Whale Tales possible. From our volunteers and community members, to presenters and attendees. We thank each of you for bringing our beloved event to life!

When and where will Whale Tales 2027 take place?

Whale Tales 2027 will be the 21st Anniversary of Whale Tales. It will be taking place from February 11-15, 2027.

Will Whale Tales be available online?

Yes! Whale Tales will be live-streamed in 2027 for those that are unable to attend the event in-person.

When can I register for Whale Tales?

Registration will open in late 2026.

No, we’ll pre-register all sponsors for presentations as part of your benefits. However, individual registration for special events and Benefit Whale Watches are required.

Benefit Whale Watches will go on sale in early 2027.
