MENTORING THE NEXT GENERATION
One of our most important goals is to nurture the next generation of environmental stewards and marine scientists. Our mission is to ignite students’ passion for the marine sciences and empower them to actively protect our oceans. To achieve these objectives, we have undertaken a range of innovative initiatives, collaborating with educators across the United States and beyond.
Inspiring Classroom Connections: We’ve partnered with educators from Hawaii to Alaska, Texas to Florida, and beyond, working to develop cutting-edge distance-learning programs. These initiatives bring the marine world directly into classrooms through daily online reports and interactive lessons “from the field.” Students across the nation can now embark on a virtual journey with our researchers, gaining firsthand insights into the study of marine mammals and ocean conservation.
Empowering Future Researchers: On a national and international scale, we offer unique opportunities for older students, including high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Through research experiences, mentorship programs, volunteer internships, specialized courses, and funding support, we’re fostering the growth of tomorrow’s marine scientists. We believe in the power of hands-on experience and are dedicated to providing the tools and knowledge needed for students to make meaningful contributions to marine conservation.
