Partnership with Maui Ocean Center
We are proud to collaborate with the Maui Ocean Center, a world-class marine attraction dedicated to showcasing Hawaii’s unique marine life. Our partnership allows us to bring the wonders of humpback whales to the heart of Maui. Together, we host tabling events throughout the winter season to educate the public about humpback whales and foster a deeper connection to the underwater world.
Science Nights at Koholā Brewery
Over the past few years, Koholā Brewery has partnered with Whale Trust for our popular Science Nights, where we brought together leading experts in whale research. These evenings were a unique opportunity to engage with scientists, learn about the latest discoveries, and enjoy great company and craft beer. We explored the fascinating world of humpback whales in a relaxed and informal setting.
Koholā Brewery lost their Lahaina tap room in the recent Maui wildfires resulting in the temporary suspension of our Science Nights. We are immensely grateful for the support and partnership of our friends at Koholā Brewery in hosting these educational evenings. Our thoughts are with them as they work towards recovery and rebuilding.

Whale Tales: A Global Celebration of Whales
Whale Tales is our annual flagship event, where we unite the global community to celebrate and support whale research. Over the past 17 years, Whale Tales has raised over $1,000,000 for whale research across the North Pacific! This unique event features:
- World-Renowned Presenters: We host over ten leading experts in whale research and visual storytelling, including photographers and videographers, who share their work and inspire others.
- Marine Science Center: Enjoy hands-on learning activities for all ages, brought to you by a variety of Hawaii-based conservation organizations.
- Benefit Whale Watches: Experience whales up close with our donated whale watches, hosted by our event presenters. It’s a chance to interact one-on-one with experts and observe humpback whales in their natural habitat.
- Community Art Expo: Shop for a cause and celebrate the work of local businesses and artists who generously donate 20% of their proceeds back to our Beneficiaries Fund.
- Keiki Program: Our commitment to education extends to the younger generation through our Keiki Program. We welcome local schools to join us for engaging lessons in humpback whales and the natural marine ecosystem that surrounds our island. Through interactive educational activities, we aim to inspire the next generation of marine conservationists, fostering a deep appreciation for our oceans and their inhabitants.
