Television, Film and Radio
The BBC, The Today Show, Discovery Channel, National Public Radio, PBS, National Geographic, and NHK television have all featured scientists and research projects of Whale Trust in national and international television and radio documentaries. The Whale Trust team has collaborated with the Jason Project, National Geographic Society and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to bring their research to hundreds of classrooms nationwide.
Cracking the Humpback Code
Cracking the Humpback Code will premiere on Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom on Sunday, July 6th at 7PM (ET/PT) on Animal Planet.
The Humpback Code tells the story of Whale Trust researchers, Jim Darling and Meagan Jones, working alongside underwater photographers, Flip Nicklin and Jason Sturgis, trying to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding the social lives of humpback whales on their Hawaiian breeding grounds.
The Humpback Code Wins ‘Gold’ In the Nature/Wildlife Category At The World Media Festival In Hamburg, Germany; Honorable Mention, International Wildlife Festival, Scientific Approach Category
The Humpback Code, the original television documentary made by Daniel Opitz with underwater cinematographer, Jason Sturgis, won the gold prize at this year’s World Media Festival in Hamburg, Germany. The breathtaking one-hour documentary also received an honorable mention at this year’s International Wildlife Festival.
