Whale Trust Volunteer Opportunities
Whale Trust has several volunteer opportunities in which you can donate your time and skills for marine research, education and conservation here in Hawaii. While there are nearly always positions available for administrative, education, and various events we contribute to or oversee during the year, research positions usually require submitting a CV or resume to mlynn@whaletrust.org.
Office Support
Description: General Office Support (mailings, data entry, event support, etc)
Length: Year-Round
Type of Activities: based and matched with individual skills
Advance Notice Requirements: Times are set-up in advance
Below is a list of annual events where we often rely on volunteers. Included with each event are the following items: description, length, type of activities, and advance notice requirements. Preference is generally for individuals or small groups of people that are preferably high-school age or older.
Annual Events
Whale Tales
Description: Free public event that has something for everyone – educational seminars, interactive educational and art expo, and daily whalewatches.
Length: January – February (annually)
Type of Activities: Event Set-up and Break-down (hands-on), Whale Trust booth, chaperones for education programs on Fridays/Saturdays, General Event Support
Advance Notice Requirements: year-round, but at least 2-weeks prior to event
Ocean Arts Festival
Description: Lahaina celebrates the annual migration of the humpback whales with ocean arts festivities.
Length: Dates to be announced for 2012.
Type of Activities: Whale Trust Booth, Set-Up/Breakdown, Event Support
Advance Notice Requirements: 1-week prior to event
